Ethics & Laws – Code of Ethics

Code of Ethics

Code of Ethics

code of ethics is a set of rules or principles about good behavior. It is an official standard of conduct that members of a group are expected to uphold.

The purpose of a code of ethics is to use it as a guideline for good behavior. Anyone can develop a code of ethics. Many business and professional organizations have developed their own, so that it reflects ethical behavior that is relevant to their situation. An individual can also create his or her own code of ethics that reflects their personal values.

A code of ethics violation is any action that is contrary to the established code (examples are in ethics lesson 3).
