All equipment that is used in a massage establishment needs to be in good working order and well-maintained. Any equipment that has the potential to cause injury should be inspected regularly. This includes standard massage equipment such as massage tables, massage chairs, stools, face cradles, and any tools that you may use (hot stones, T-bars, etc.). Check for worn out components, sharp edges, and any other damage that could cause injury to the client or therapist.
Some massage settings also have exercise equipment or spa equipment (IR sauna, hot tub, etc.) that may require inspection and maintenance by a technician that is certified to inspect and repair this type of equipment.
The temperature of the hydrocollator should be checked daily, or before every other use. (Be sure to regularly check the water level in the hydrocollator too, to keep the hot packs from getting damaged).
